Stewardship
Through
Education
Stewardship Through Education is a youth, Watershed Education program. It was started in 2005 by a group of teachers and conservationists who felt that teaching children to understand the environment around them, would lead them to be better stewards of the land. STE programs reach over one thousand students per school year through various field trips and classroom activities. Funded in part by the Upper Mokelumne River Watershed Authority, the STE program targets schools in the Mokelumne River Watershed, including Amador and Calaveras Counties, and more recently, the Alpine County School District. STE educators focus their teaching on three established programs: Stewards of the Watershed; Classroom Aquarium Education Program (CAEP); and Watershed Alive! Days. Detailed information about STE and it’s programs can be found on it’s website:
